Money word, in plain English

Mutual fund

A shared basket where many people's money is invested together by a manager.

Example. Your ₹500 joins thousands of others to buy a mix of shares.

A mutual fund pools money from many people and a professional manager invests it across many companies. It lets a small amount get spread across lots of shares, which lowers your risk compared to buying a single share.
