KYC and onboarding

The one-time identity gate

Nothing starts until KYC is done, so this is the first real step of service. The good news for the investor: it is once and done, then reusable everywhere.

This lesson teaches a concept for the NISM Series V-A exam. It is education, not financial advice.

  1. 1

KYC is a one-time identity check: your PAN, an address proof, and a photo.

  2. 2

It is done through a KRA (KYC Registration Agency), so once done it works across all funds.

  3. 3

No investment can happen until KYC is complete. It is the gate to onboarding.

  4. 4

Keep the investor's records accurate; one wrong detail can hold up a redemption later.

Rupee example

Finish KYC once with any fund or platform, and the next fund the investor chooses already sees them as verified.

A KRA records the KYC centrally, so it is reusable across funds.
It is not tied to a single branch or the exchange.

Once KYC is done, it:

Central KYC means one check works everywhere, a big convenience.
It is not per-fund or monthly.

An investor can invest:
