Budgeting, the 50/30/20 way
A simple split for your salary
Budgeting sounds boring, but 50/30/20 makes it simple. You split your take home pay into three buckets.
50% for needs: rent, food, bills, travel, the things you cannot skip. 30% for wants: eating out, movies, that new gadget. 20% for saving and paying off debt.
The rupee example. Say you take home ₹40,000 a month. That is ₹20,000 for needs, ₹12,000 for wants, and ₹8,000 for saving and clearing loans. The 20% is the part most people skip, so pay it first, on the day your salary lands, before it quietly disappears.
The exact numbers can flex for your life. The point is to give every rupee a job, so you are choosing where your money goes instead of wondering where it went.
