How to actually start

Your first real steps

Learning is good, but at some point you have to begin. Here is the simple path.

First, you need a demat account. Think of it as a digital locker that holds your shares and funds safely, the same way a bank app holds your money. You open one through a broker or a well known investing app.

Second, you finish your KYC. This is a one time identity check using your PAN and Aadhaar. You upload them once, and you are set. It usually takes a few minutes.

Third, start small. Set up an SIP of an amount you will not miss, even ₹500 a month, into a simple, low cost fund. The goal of the first investment is not to get rich. It is to get started and build the habit.

The rupee example. ₹500 a month feels tiny, but it makes the whole thing real, and it lets compounding begin. You can always increase it as your income grows.

This is general education, not financial advice. Compare brokers and funds, and read the fees before you sign up.
